Our Story

American Ram was founded in 2025 around the acquisition of TRC Pumping Units, bringing an established Oklahoma City pumping unit operation and its people under a new name. Today American Ram operates a pumping unit machine shop and gear manufacturing facility at 2836 SE 15th St. in Oklahoma City, serving operators across the Mid-Continent and shipping parts and units to customers in states including Texas, Ohio and New Mexico.

Our Founding: TRC Pumping Units

TRC Pumping Units was a subsidiary of TRC Services, a sucker rod company that Bob Payne and a group of industry veterans founded in Oklahoma City in 1996. The subsidiary launched in December 2020 to sell, refurbish and deliver surface pumping units to the wellsite, and its acquisition in 2025 became the foundation of American Ram.

Its first leaders were industry veterans with Lufkin and Weatherford backgrounds. Bob McDonald was President, Buddy Moore was Vice President of Permian and South Texas Operations, and Brent Pickens was Vice President of Business Development. Brent is based in Oklahoma City and spent his career at Leamco and then Weatherford, where he helped develop the Maximizer III pumping unit.

The parent company, TRC Services, makes new and remanufactured steel sucker rods and Fiberflex fiberglass rods and provides rod string design and failure analysis. It runs four plants in Midland, Texas, two in Oklahoma City and a facility in Pleasanton, Texas.
